After gorging myself on the beautiful hand-drawn graphics, hauntingly beautiful soundtrack and lighting-fast action, I am more than ready to head back into the lush subterranean depths Team Cherry’s insect kingdom. Exploring the cavernous, interconnected labyrinth of the wonderfully detailed Hollownest made Hollow Knight the reason why I spent so much time with my Switch last year. Hollow Knight flew under the radar when it was first released in 2017 but found a second wind when it was ported to consoles in 2018. No word on a release date quite yet, but it will be worth the wait to be slashing and dashing against gorgeous scenery surrounded by Christopher Larkin’s incredible score again. Expect to see new towns and characters dripping with that signature Hollow Knight charm. Players will have an entirely new insect kingdom to explore with an updated arsenal of tools, traps and weapons. Silksong was fully announced as a Sequel, not a DLC on the 14th February 2019. Silksong was initially supposed to be another DLC for Hollow Knight. The game was initially only announced for a PC and Nintendo Switch release, but has since included Xbox and PlayStation. The last DLC of Hollow Knight was released on the 23rd August 2018. However, it looks like that won't be the case anymore. Hollow Knight: Silksong was first revealed back in February 2019 and was later confirmed to release sometime in the first half of 2023. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can. We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing. Hey gang, just a quick update about Silksong. Hollow Knight was partially crowdfunded via Kickstarter.Through that crowdfunding, Team Cherry initially planned to release Silksong as a DLC (Downloadable Content) to the original game, at least. He continued: “Expect more details from us once we get closer to release.” While there are pros and cons to having a separate community for each game, we will continue to accommodate 'Hollow Knight: Silksong' discussion for the foreseeable future.
